Sony is planning the Sony Smartwatch 2, the next generation of its smartwatch. After the release of Google's Android Wear, many companies such as HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung and Asus signed partnerships with it, but Sony decided that it was not joining the bandwagon - and would stick with its own version of Android on wearable devices.

Sony claims that it has invested too much time and resources into the Android version of its smartwatch, and therefore the software is not compatible with Google's version. No less than a day after this announcement, Sony is backtracking - it posted a message on the social network that the door is definitely not closed to Android Wear.

An official statement from Sony says they are excited about the potential of Android Wear to extend the Android experience to wearables. As they work on their new smartwatch, and with Google as a major partner for their products, they are trying to take every opportunity to improve the smartwatch experience.
