Call to eat Mazal Tov to MK Yisrael Eichler: A traffic light has begun operating at the Beit Halkia intersection, allowing entry and exit to the moshav, without risking the busy traffic on Highway 3 leading to the Ram intersection.

Here's the story from the beginning: More than a year ago, the late Aharon Yosef Rottner was killed, a student at a small yeshiva of Belza Hasidim in Moshav Beit Hilkiya, where two yeshivahs operate, attended by hundreds of students, alongside the town's educational institutions and hundreds of families staying there.

To this day, there was no traffic light at the Moshav intersection, while all the settlements on that busy traffic route already had traffic lights.

Following the tragedy, MK Eichler contacted Transportation Minister Israel Katz and Director General Uzi Yitzhaki with a request to install a traffic light at the intersection immediately.

After the accident, a demonstration was also held by residents. "It is impossible that only Beit Halkia will not receive a basic safety device like a traffic light at a busy intercity intersection," they argued.

The minister and the CEO went into action with full dedication, planning and building the traffic light. But bureaucracy and budgetary problems caused delays.

This week, Eichler was informed that the efforts had borne fruit and the intersection was signalized and operational.

Eichler was quick to thank Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, on the day he took office on Tuesday - and wrote: "Every day that you pave roads and break through highways and expand lanes and sidewalks, all over the Land of Israel, you also save many lives.

""But on the day you were re-elected as Minister of Transportation, one small traffic light went into operation in a small moshav, where a young yeshiva student was killed, unfortunately. In doing so, you earned a great commandment, of 'Whoever saves one soul in Israel, it is as if there was an entire world.'".
