Not just Google - Apple is also in the picture: The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is developing a car, with hundreds of people at the company working on the secret project.
It is apparently an electric vehicle codenamed Titan, and its current design resembles a minivan. Recall that in early February, a minivan with no identifying details was seen roaming the area with a strange camera on it. Tracking it led to Apple.
Rumor has it that Apple has acquired the kind of people Tesla has, with expertise that fits the subject matter.

The Financial Times also reports that Apple has a secret facility with "dozens" of people working on a car. The newspaper quotes a source close to Apple as saying that initially it seemed that Apple was only working on the in-car experience, but "now I think it's a car.".
