The Airports Authority continues to promote innovation and improve the passenger experience at Ben Gurion Airport: Starting today (Sunday), a new digital service for independently tagging and sending luggage was launched, similar to the services currently operating at leading airports around the world.
After months of preparation, infrastructure adjustments, and technological upgrades, the service will begin operating in the first phase in Terminal 3, in Sector G, and later also in Terminal 1 upon its reopening, in Sector A.
The expansion of the service will be carried out gradually and in accordance with the availability of infrastructure and interfaces that will be developed by the airlines.
Passengers whose airline allows the service and choose to use it will be asked to check-in in advance before arriving at Ben Gurion Airport.
After security screening, they will be able to independently issue a baggage tag at the digital kiosks and deposit their luggage at the designated locations.
The move is expected to significantly shorten waiting times during the check-in and baggage drop-off processes, streamline passenger flow in the terminals, and improve the service experience and comfort for passengers.
At the same time, all existing service options will continue to operate as usual, including staffed check-in counters and self-service kiosks, depending on the airlines and the activity sectors in the terminals.
