MK Yinon Azoulay of the Shas Party condemned this evening (Wednesday), from the Knesset plenary rostrum, the break-in and vandalism committed by extremists at the home of the Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Justice Noam Solberg.
""In the State of Israel, it is permitted and even legitimate to demonstrate and express protest, but violence is not part of the rules of the democratic game," said Azoulay. "To come to the home of a public servant, to harass his family and to disrupt their daily lives - this is not the way of Torah.".
The Shas MK emphasized: "We deeply regret the harm done to the Torah scholars and are working with all our might to regulate their status, but this does not justify violent behavior of any kind. Therefore, I unequivocally condemn any manifestation of violence and incitement.".
He added: "I hope that just as Prime Minister Netanyahu and Education Minister Yoav Kish condemned these events, a clear and decisive voice will also be heard from them regarding the arrest of Torah scholars. Torah scholars who sit and study Torah should be in the study halls and continue their studies, and not find themselves in detention.".
""This is an important moral and public message that the country's leadership must say in a clear voice.".
