In the past 24 hours, legal and police journalists have harshly criticized State Attorney Amit Isman, claiming that he is promoting appointments of his associates to senior positions in the Attorney General's Office.

The storm began after Avishai Greenzig, legal commentator for Channel I24, published a bet yesterday that Attorney Assaf Shavit would be appointed director of the cyber department at the Attorney General's Office.

Today, with the announcement of the tender results and after the prediction turned out to be correct - Greenzig tweeted: "Crazy surprise from the Prosecutor's Office Tenders Committee - Attorney Assaf Shavit has been appointed director of the Cyber Department at the State Prosecutor's Office. Too bad I didn't fill out the lottery.".

He added: "I have no complaint against Assaf Shavit, Shelly Zeevi, etc. They had respected professional recommenders. The problem is Isman, who turns the tenders at the Attorney General's Office into a big joke. He has no problem appointing an attorney who doesn't speak English to head the international department. He has no problem changing the tender requirements at the last minute, and so on and so forth. As if it were a private yard.".

Yesterday, Greenzig wrote: "Tomorrow, the tender for the director of the cyber department at the prosecutor's office will be held. I don't know who the other candidates are, and it is not yet known who the members of the tender committee will be besides Amit Isman, but make a note of my bet that Isman's close associate, Attorney Assaf Shavit, will be appointed. Isman artificially created positions for him just before the committee, so that he would be elected. Good luck to all the candidates!""

Journalist Josh Breiner from Haaretz also joined the criticism: "Amit Isman is filling the prosecutor's office with his own people, with pre-made tenders, and this harms, first and foremost, the public's trust in the prosecutor's office and the law enforcement system.".

Greenzig added and attacked on his X account: "Last week I spoke with several senior officials - current and retired - in the Attorney General's Office, who attacked Isman in the harshest terms in my ears. I told them that I write my criticism of him all the time, and I added: But where are you? Why are you filling your mouths with water?"

""You have the courage to sign public petitions against Netanyahu and against Yariv Levin and Simcha Rotman. You are capable of attacking Yariv Levin and Simcha Rotman for harming the legal system, but to criticize the corrupt conduct of the State Attorney himself (when they themselves say it is corruption) - that's not it? Where did your courage go? I guess I asked a good question, because I didn't get an answer.".

The Ministry of Justice reported that the Civil Service Commission's tender committees unanimously elected Attorney Yehonatan Tadmor as Deputy State Attorney for Economic Enforcement; Attorney Assaf Shavit as Director of the Cyber Department at the State Attorney's Office; and Attorney Shelly Zeevi-Barzilai as Director of the International Department at the State Attorney's Office.

The members of the tender committee that selected Tadmor and Svit were retired judge Miriam Diskin (chair); State Attorney Amit Isman; Director of the Disciplinary Division at the Civil Service Commission, Guy David; and Chair of the Bar Association, Orit Korin.

The members of the tender committee that selected Zavei-Barzilai were retired judge Michael Spitzer (chairman); State Attorney Amit Isman; Foreign Ministry legal advisor Tami Kaplan; and the chairwoman of the Bar Association, Orit Korin.
