After more than a year of discussions: Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Yuli Edelstein, decided not to submit the draft draft law to the plenum - and in effect to shelve it.
According to a report this evening (Saturday night) on Kan News, Edelstein made the decision claiming that there was no point in submitting a proposal that would not pass, given the explosion with the Haredi parties.
In an interview with Kan News this evening, Transportation Minister Miri Regev attacked Edelstein, claiming that he is "misleading the Haredim." Regev added: "If he doesn't come to his senses, he should resign.".
The minister then continued: "We need to complain to Edelstein. There was a clear agreement and a clear outline. Edelstein led them and misled us. There are extraneous considerations here, and he also said that he hardened his positions after reaching an agreement.".
