Passover is over, the cleaning is behind us, the trash has been collected, but after every cleaning session we are left with another round of the creatives of the Haredi campaign: more harsh, humiliating formulas, reflecting the true attitude that is increasingly being woven beneath the surface.
In the midst of Passover, residents of Jerusalem's ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods were surprised to once again find Pashkvilim covering the streets, under slogans that blatantly rail against Haredim serving in the IDF.
""Did you know what Haredak is?" they address the residents in white Kiddush letters, highlighted in red.
The answer: "The neighborhood's shit.".
Other ads carried the headlines: "Haredi Jews are a danger to our descendants!" and "Haredi Jews out.".
In the campaign, the Haredi soldiers were called a series of insulting nicknames, including: "inferior status in society," "low self-image," "sick, fasting," and more.
The Haredi campaign was launched about a year ago, immediately after the "Tal Law" was repealed and yeshiva students were required to report to the draft offices, without the ability to receive an exemption or deferment of service. At that time, the colorful campaign was launched in Haredi cities, under the newly issued label: "Haredikim" (light-hearted Haredi). In the ads that were distributed, the Haredi who enlisted in the IDF after consulting their elders were called Haredik, and the public was called upon to prevent their entry into Haredi neighborhoods.
The campaign incited both sides of the Haredi street and even led to several incidents in which extremists raised their hands and attacked Haredi soldiers who passed through the Mea Shearim and Geula neighborhoods, and similar incidents also occurred in Haredi neighborhoods in Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh.
