Yisrael Beytenu Chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, said in an interview on 'Meet the Press' on Channel 12 that he will run for prime minister in the upcoming elections.

""Absolutely yes," Lieberman replied when asked if he would run. "We are running as Yisrael Beiteinu, anyone who wants to join me is welcome to apply.".

Regarding the draft law being promoted by the government, Liberman said: "It should not be enacted. There must be one draft law for everyone. In my government, we will draft everyone. There will be two tracks - civilian or military, and whoever evades will be denied the right to vote and will not be able to get a driver's license, receive benefits in dormitories, and more. It cannot be that 60,000 reserve soldiers are drafted and sent to the front, and those who evade are sent home. Anyone who deserts and evades service should be denied the right to vote.".

The disputes that are destroying Israeli society, he said, are two: the draft exemption law and the keeping of hostages in Hamas captivity. "You can't eliminate Hamas when you have people inside," he explained. "The dialogue with Hamas won't quickly turn into peace - but we've been at war for a year and seven months and we haven't been able to end the fighting.".
