The late Lizerowitz grew up in Beitar Illit and married two years ago Noa Mashash, a native of the city of Tiberias, where the couple established their home. About two weeks ago, the late David Mashash, Noa's father, passed away. He was a well-known figure in the city, a social activist, and was even awarded the title of "Tiberias's Dear Friend".
According to a report in Israel Hayom, his wife was with him on the boat. He was apparently trapped under the boat when it capsized and drowned.
Rescue forces were called to the beach in Eilat following a report of a capsized boat. They provided medical treatment to 12 victims who were evacuated to hospital in moderate to mild condition.
An initial investigation revealed that the boat capsized during a sharp turn and the 12 passengers on board were thrown into the water.
As part of the investigation into the circumstances of the boating accident, the operator of the vessel, a resident of Eilat in his twenties, was arrested for questioning.
Depending on the needs and findings of the investigation, the police will request an extension of his detention in court. In the meantime, the police seized additional items, including the vessel, as part of the evidence collection and identification process.
ZAKA volunteers from the Eilat region were called to the scene and worked on site to provide respectful care for the deceased, in cooperation with the rescue and recovery forces operating at the scene.
