US President Donald Trump addressed this evening (Thursday) the kidnapped Israeli-American soldier Idan Alexander, who has been held captive by Hamas in Gaza for more than a year and a half.
Trump told the parents: "We don't know how he is. We hope he is doing well. Two months ago we were sure he was going to be released, but they tightened the rules. This is a terrible thing and I understand your feelings. We are working very hard to get your son released.".
In the recording distributed on social media, President Trump is seen saying in a speech he gave at the White House, after meeting with the parents of the hostage who holds American citizenship: "Out of the 59 hostages who are being held captive, 24 were alive - and now, I understand it's not even that number.".
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara met this week at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem with the torchbearers ahead of the 77th Independence Day ceremony for the State of Israel.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister referred to the number of those kidnapped in Gaza and said: "We obviously have another important mission, not only to win, but also to return them home; to date we have returned 196 of our abductees, 147 alive. There are up to 24 alive.".
At this point, his wife Sara Netanyahu whispered: "Less," and he emphasized: "I say until," and continued: "And the rest, of course, unfortunately, are not alive, and we will return them. It's the same spirit.".
