Dozens of bereaved families today (Tuesday) appealed to ousted Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, demanding that he comply with the government's decision and terminate his position.

The letter to the head of the Shin Bet was sent by Yehoshua Shani, chairman of the Heroism Forum and father of Captain Uri Mordechai, and was joined by dozens of other bereaved family members.

In the letter, the families demand that Ronen Bar announce the date of his end of office before the start of Memorial Week, in order to prevent a rift within the nation.

In a letter to the head of the Shin Bet, Shani writes: "We, bereaved families, members of the Heroism Forum, who lost the most precious thing to them in the War of the Iron Swords, are addressing you with an unequivocal demand - obey and implement the government's decision and end your position. Your continued tenure at this time, despite the government's decision, harms the people, the country, and security, endangers the stability of the country, and leads to an escalation in the struggle between the authorities. All this while our fighters are fighting on a number of fronts.

""Your Honor, in a conversation with several bereaved families, including me last week in your office, you pledged to end your position no later than May 15. Keep your word. We ask that you act responsibly and immediately announce a date for the end of your position, even before the upcoming Week of Remembrance and Valor - a holy week for the people of Israel.

""Please do not add pain and division to our fracture. It is in your power to prevent another deep rift, and to maintain a degree of responsibility towards the people and the state.".
