Three new conversations that took place between A., the head of the Shin Bet's Jewish Division, and the commander of the Israeli Intelligence Service, Avishai Mualem, were revealed this evening (Sunday) - in the recording affair that exploded yesterday on Ayala Hasson's show.
Shimon Reklin's program on Channel 14 featured a conversation between the two that took place three days after the massacre committed by Hamas in the Gaza Envelope on October 7th.
The head of the Jewish division presented to the senior government official a problem from his perspective: "The Jews are arming themselves.".
The naval commander doesn't understand the concern.
Avishai Mualem: "What's the problem with that? We went through a massacre, it's natural that they would arm themselves legally.".
Brigade chief: "There are weapons in Yitzhar.".
When asked what he was talking about, he admitted that he meant regular pistol bullets.
On Channel 12, additional recordings of a conversation between Mualem and the head of the Jewish division in the Shin Bet were revealed.
The two argue about how they will try to arrest Rabbi Yossi Elitzur, the head of the yeshiva in Yitzhar. While the senior Shin Bet officer seeks to arrest the rabbi for entering his home without an arrest warrant, the officer claims that entering a home without a warrant from a judge is illegal.
Ntsm Mualem explains to the Shin Bet officer: "Without a crime, you can't issue an arrest warrant. I'm coming to him at 4:30 in the morning, I don't intend to arrest him inside the yeshiva. I intend to enter his home.".
When the head of the Jewish brigade doesn't understand the problem, Mualem wonders: "Why come with an arrest warrant in hand?".
The Shin Bet man replies: "An arrest warrant, I don't like this thing. Because you don't do this to anyone else.".
In another recording of a conversation between the two, they are in a real confrontation. Mualem accuses the Shin Bet agent of bypassing him and appeals to his superiors.
The Shin Bet man confirms and says he will continue to work like this, and Mualem replies: "I don't want to work with you. How am I with you? Go to the Commissioner-General, to the Intelligence Department, to the Shin Bet, to the Prime Minister, I don't work with you. Bye, goodbye.".
The head of the Jewish Counterterrorism Division suspended himself from his post today, following the revelation of recordings yesterday that recorded a conversation in which he called suspects in Judea and Samaria "sluts" and said that they were being detained "even without evidence" for a few days.
