The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ruled, as part of a settlement agreement, that the police and the Israeli Prison Service will compensate a settler who was twice subjected to a humiliating search in violation of the law during an arrest three years ago, in the amount of 15,000 shekels.

After the incident, the settler filed a lawsuit against the police and the Prison Service through attorney Menashe Yado Mhonenu for 30,000 shekels.

The settler was arrested near the settlement of Ma'ale Amos in Gush Etzion, at a settlement point he established, on the grounds that he violated a closed military area order - and was removed from the site for 15 days.

After the end of the exclusion period, the settler returned to live in the area, was arrested again and taken to the police station for questioning. Upon arrival at the police station, the settler was searched, during which he was humiliated. After the search, the settler was questioned and left in custody for an entire night without any reason.

The next day, the settler was transferred to the detention center in the Russian Compound, where he underwent another humiliating search.

As mentioned, the court ruled that the settler will be compensated with 15,000 shekels for the humiliating searches he underwent.

Attorney Menashe Yado: "We are happy with the court's decision. We will continue to protect the most basic rights of the settlers. We hope that the monitoring and legal support of the Honenu organization will help strengthen the settlement.".
