MK Almog Cohen was attacked today (Tuesday) by left-wing protest activists outside the Knesset building. He was forced to enter the building under heavy security.
MK Cohen published a video, saying: "I was attacked with severe violence at the entrance to the Knesset by a group of rioters, backed by an inciting media, when I was forced to enter the Knesset building on foot. The goal of the protest and its leaders is blood in the streets.
""Don't interpret my kindness this morning as weakness. I regret that the Israel Police were not there to protect my life, and if it weren't for the Knesset Guard, I would have been forced to respond, and not just absorb. You are violent people who are dangerous to democracy and the country, but you won't move me a millimeter.".
Ministers Bezalel Smotrich, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Amichai Eliyahu also entered the Knesset on foot, under very heavy security due to the demonstrations near the Knesset. Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was forced to arrive on foot while left-wing protesters called him a "criminal.".
The Knesset Speaker referred to the blocking of entry to the Knesset and called on the law enforcement authorities to prosecute the "criminals" who blocked the entrance to the Mishkan. "Violent and criminal attempts to block the democratic process in the Knesset and not allow the entry of Knesset members in order to allow voting. I call on the enforcement authorities to bring the criminals to justice and not be satisfied with arrests and towing vehicles, but with prosecution.".
He added: "There is freedom of expression in the State of Israel, but no one has the freedom to forcibly block the democratic process in the Knesset. This is outside the rules of the game.".
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich told the protesters before arriving at the Knesset: "You are not interested in democracy, but in maintaining privileges and power. When I blocked roads, I was detained for three weeks in a Shin Bet dungeon. They didn't let me sit on the road and block traffic like some privileged person.".
The police announced that they arrested 6 protesters for violent disturbances around the Government Complex in Jerusalem.
""Over the past hour, dozens of participants in a protest and procession taking place in Jerusalem have begun to disrupt order by blocking roads around the Government Complex in Jerusalem, both by unlawfully demonstrating and by parking vehicles in a manner that is contrary to the law and poses, among other things, a great risk.".
""Police forces are currently working to restore order and evacuate the vehicles, towing them if necessary. Meanwhile, a handful of protesters tried to interfere with the police in their mission to tow vehicles. So far, the police have arrested 6 suspects for violating the order and they have been taken to the police station for questioning.".
