A Jewish teenager, a resident of the Old City of Jerusalem, was attacked earlier this week near his home by a group of Arabs - after he confronted an Arab woman who pointed a toy gun at him.

After the confrontation, the boy was arrested by police.

In court, the police asked to keep him away from the area for 30 days.

Attorney Daniel Shimsilashvili of Mhonenu, who represents the boy, claimed in the hearing that the boy felt threatened due to the security situation and the month of Ramadan.

The court ordered that the boy be removed for only 4 days, during which he will be able to go to his parents' house.

Attorney Shimsilashvili: "A Jewish resident of the Old City protested against a hate speech and found himself detained at the police station. The court's decision to release my client without the draconian conditions demanded by the police should be welcomed. It is expected that the police will interrogate the attackers and ensure the safety of the residents of the Old City.".
