The Likud faction and the State Right faction signed a political agreement today (Thursday), which includes the subsequent merger of the factions. Accordingly, they will submit a joint list of candidates in the next elections.

It was agreed between the parties that, to the extent that the Prime Minister is given the authority to reserve candidates on the Likud list for the 26th Knesset, Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Chairman of the State Right, will select the first reserved candidate - within the framework of reserved candidates for Prime Minister.

It was also agreed that the position of the first armored candidate, designated Minister Ze'ev Elkin, will not be after 15th place. After the merger, members of the 'State Right' faction will be part of the 'Likud' faction.

As part of the agreement, the Likud Secretariat's decision from August 2021 regarding the Knesset members of the 'State Right-New Hope' and its members will be canceled, and the Knesset members of the 'State Right' and 2,400 party functionaries will be allowed to be immediately elected on behalf of the 'Likud' movement to the Knesset, the government, the national institutions, and the 'Likud' institutions.

In addition, 100 members will be appointed to the Likud Center by the Chairman of the State Right, Minister Gideon Saar. It was also agreed that Knesset members from the State Right faction will serve as members of the Likud Secretariat from the time they join the Likud.

It was reported that the agreement is conditional on the approval of the Likud Center and Secretariat and the approval of the state right-wing institutions.

Minister Gideon Sa'ar wrote this evening: "October 7 and the historic events that followed were supposed to completely change the political system, the priorities and the political strategy of our elected officials and parties. Not everyone understood this. But that's what I did.".

""The differences between us, in historical perspective, will be seen as insignificant nuances compared to the destructive intentions of our enemies and in light of the enormous challenges before us. Our mission - to secure the future of Israel for generations to come. That is why I joined the government. That is why I also made the crucial decision: to return to the house that was my home for most of my adult life and public life: the Likud movement.".

He added: "Together with my friends, who walked a arduous and challenging path with me, but never abandoned the right-wing worldview, I am convinced that we have strengthened the State of Israel at a crucial historical moment. In this way, I also believe that we will strengthen the national camp, which alone can lead Israel today in the face of its challenges. I thank Prime Minister and Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, who transcended the past, as I did, and worked to join the government and unite the forces.".
