Police forces and Border Guard soldiers who arrived at the scene conducted extensive searches for the suspect who fled, and forensic officers began collecting evidence at the scene in order to track down the suspect in the act.

After his identity was revealed, and through rapid and varied investigative actions, in cooperation with the Shin Bet, David area police officers were able to trace his escape route and he was arrested by Tiberias police officers, while hiding in a yeshiva in the north of the country. The young man, Paf, tried to change his appearance after shaving his beard.

After his arrest, he was transferred for questioning in the David area.

The investigation into the case revealed that there was a prior acquaintance between the suspect and the woman, as the suspect attended a yeshiva run by the victim's husband - and he was forced to be expelled from it due to behavior that did not meet the yeshiva's requirements.

As a result, and in retaliation, the suspect entered the family home and attacked the woman.

The suspect's detention was extended from time to time in court, and upon completion of the investigation and after an evidentiary foundation was formed that matured into an indictment, a prosecutor's statement was filed against him over the weekend, stating the intention to file an indictment against him in the coming days by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office.

To this end, the suspect's detention was extended until Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Assaf Harel, the investigations and intelligence officer in the David area: "The fact that the suspect attacked a woman for no reason with his fist, and in her own home in front of her children, testifies more than anything to the dangerousness of the suspect, the ease and cruelty with which he attacked the victim.

""The investigative efforts led to a rapid resolution of the case, the capture of the suspect and his detention behind bars until he is brought to justice. The police will continue to fight with determination and with all the tools at their disposal against serious violence of any kind and against criminals who would harm public peace and security.".
