He referred to the Gaza Strip, and reiterated his plan to move the residents of the Strip to several sites where they could live "in comfort and peace.".

""The United States will take control of the Gaza Strip. We will ensure that all dangerous bombs are removed, we will clear the destroyed buildings, we will create economic development that will provide an unlimited number of jobs and housing for the people of the region. We will turn it into an international place," the president said.

Netanyahu told Trump: "I am honored to be the first foreign leader to visit the White House in your second term. This is a testament to your friendship and support for the Jewish state and the Jewish people. I have said it before, and I will say it again: You are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.".

He said, "Israel will end the war in victory. Israel's victory will be America's victory. With your leadership, Mr. President, and with our cooperation, I believe we will create a bright future for our region and bring our alliance to new heights.".

The two then answered reporters' questions. Trump was asked about the prospects for normalization with Saudi Arabia and replied: "They want peace in the Middle East.".

Regarding the ceasefire and the hostage deal, he said: "I can't tell you whether the ceasefire will last. We were able to release many hostages. We will release more, but we are dealing with very complicated people. We hope the agreement will last.".

Trump also said he plans to visit Israel, Gaza, Saudi Arabia and "other places throughout the Middle East," although he did not specify when.

The press conference lasted 40 minutes.
