Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ronen made a surprise visit this week to Ofer Prison, with the aim of examining the conditions of imprisonment of terrorists from Gaza held there. According to a report this evening (Saturday night) by Shelly Tapiero on Kan News, the judge requested to visit the wing where prisoners who are "illegal fighters from Gaza" who were captured after October 7 are being held. During her visit, the judge inquired whether they have winter clothes, a supply of toilet paper, and whether they are given a pen and paper, to enable them to apply to judicial bodies, for example for petitions. Judge Ronen recently discussed a number of petitions filed by terrorists against their conditions of detention. It is possible that this visit to the security prison stemmed from a desire to closely monitor the policy of the Minister in charge, Ben Gvir. This, after he significantly worsened the conditions of imprisonment in the security prisoners' wings.   United Torah Judaism Chairman and Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf, responded to Judge Ronen's visit to Hamas terrorists: "As long as our kidnapped brothers and sisters suffer from cold and substandard conditions in Hamas captivity and do not receive visits from the Red Cross, the State of Israel should not allow visits to inspect the conditions of the Hamas monsters imprisoned in Israel.".
