Defense Minister Israel Katz said this evening (Friday) that US President Donald Trump is currently leading an agreement with Iran from the perspective of American interests - including "the common interest with Israel - to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.".
However, he made it clear that Israel must ensure that it will also have the ability to act independently in the future to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Katz said: "The US president is currently leading an agreement with Iran from the perspective of American interests, including the common interest with Israel - to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons - and we expect him to uphold this principle and other principles in the field of missiles and terrorist proxies.".
The Defense Minister noted that "together we dealt Iran severe blows that set back its capabilities for many years. Israel must ensure that we will also have the ability to act independently in the future to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I have instructed the IDF to prepare accordingly.".
He emphasized: "Israel will not withdraw from the security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. The IDF will continue to defend our borders and citizens from within the crown of Mount Hermon, the Lebanese mountains, the regions of our country in Samaria, and most of the territory of Gaza - against threats from jihadist forces and organizations, as a central lesson from the events of October 7.".
""The IDF will not withdraw from the terror camps in northern Samaria, which are being evacuated from residents, and if necessary, the move will be expanded to additional terror camps.".
He said, "Our piece of security is sharp and clear: we are acting against threats, both near and far, and we strive for decisions, not compromises and concessions.".
Katz added: "A lot hangs in the balance during this period, and we are determined to continue to lead a strong security policy that will prevent harm to our security achievements and will not jeopardize our ability to fight against the Shiite axis of evil led by Iran and the Sunni axis of evil led by the Muslim Brotherhood.".
