An ultra-Orthodox man, a Jerusalem resident in his late forties, was arrested last night (Sunday) as part of an investigation conducted by the Jerusalem Crime Fighting Unit, on suspicion that he committed particularly serious crimes against his daughters several years ago, when they were girls under the age of 12 - with his acts taking place over many years.
The arrest was made as part of an investigation that has been ongoing for many weeks by the Crime Fighting Unit in the Zion Region in the Jerusalem District.
The investigation was opened following a complaint filed against him by the girls, with a variety of investigative actions being carried out with great sensitivity and initial evidence collection.
Meanwhile, the investigative unit recently went to court and issued an early arrest warrant against the suspect in the acts - the victims' father.
Last night, police detectives arrested the suspect near his residence in Jerusalem, and he was taken for questioning at the police unit.
This morning, he will be brought before the court for a hearing on his case, where the police will request an extension of his detention in order to complete the necessary investigative activities, due to the serious suspicions against him.
""The Israel Police will act and conduct a highly professional investigation into suspicions of sexual offenses in general, against minors and the helpless, and offenses committed within the family unit in particular, with the aim of reaching the truth and bringing those who did so to justice," the police say.
