The Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister, Gali Baharav-Miara, ruled today (Sunday) that there is a legal impediment to approving the proposal of the decision-makers at the government meeting to terminate the employment of legal advisors in government ministries, who have served for seven years. According to a report in Kan News, in a letter drafted on her behalf, it was written: "There is a serious concern that the proposal is tainted with extraneous considerations and is intended to immediately move certain legal advisors who perform their duties as gatekeepers and weaken legal advice in government ministries." Last night, cabinet ministers received an update that the government will discuss this morning a proposal that seeks to allow the termination of the employment of legal advisors in government ministries. The new decision stipulates that within two weeks, the Pay Commissioner will have to regulate the conditions for the retirement of legal advisors to government ministries who have served for seven years. The updated version sent to the ministers states that legal advisors whose terms of office have expired after 7 years will end their term within 90 days - not within a month and a half. After that, every such legal advisor in government ministries will be forced to end his term. In exceptional cases, the director-general will be able to request an extension of the term for a short period. The decision is expected to allow the government to "get rid" of seven advisors in government ministries for whom the decision is relevant. Some of them will be able to continue in office according to the director-general's decision for a certain period. According to 'Kan News', the government is interested in advancing the decision urgently, mainly to end the term of Finance Attorney Assi Messing, who has been in frequent conflicts with the Minister of Finance and the government and is one of the advisors for whom the decision is relevant.
