The police released footage of the truck attack near the Glilot base this evening (Tuesday), and announced that the investigation efforts so far strengthen the suspicion that the incident was a nationalist attack.

The police stated that "as part of the investigation, the IDF investigators worked intensively and collected dozens of testimonies from eyewitnesses and citizens who were involved in the incident. At the same time, the technological scene investigators downloaded large amounts of media files from dozens of cameras, which documented parts of the runover incident.".

The investigation materials indicate that "a police officer who was present at the scene near the time of the incident climbed into the driver's cab and was attacked by the truck driver with a pole he was holding - which was recorded on a body camera video. As a result of the attack, the police officer fell from the driver's cab and immediately fired a shot in the air out of fear for his life. Soldiers present at the scene noticed the incident and fired at the driver, neutralizing him.

""In light of the findings of the investigation that have emerged so far and in light of the videos that indicate the truck was deliberately diverted towards the civilians, and without any attempt to brake the truck - there are no signs of braking on the road, and even an apparent acceleration of its speed, it can be said that the suspicion is growing that the runover that hit the civilians was carried out on nationalistic grounds.".

On Sunday, a truck crashed into a bus and people waiting at the bus stop. As a result, Bezalel Carmi, 72, from Rishon LeZion, was critically injured and pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident injured 35 people, including six in serious condition, five in moderate condition, and the rest in minor condition.

The driver of the offending truck is Rami Natur, an Israeli citizen from Klansvay, who was shot and neutralized.

The truck driver's body was sent for an autopsy in Abu Kabir, to check whether he suffered from a medical problem that may have caused the incident.

The police further update that a preliminary conclusion from the autopsy does not indicate a suspicion of a medical incident.
