A new mandate survey conducted by the Direct Polls polling institute and published this evening (Thursday) on Channel 14 shows that if the elections were held today, the Likud party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be weakened by two mandates from the previous survey - and the right-wing bloc is moving away from 61 mandates.

According to the survey results, the Likud party led by Netanyahu will receive only 24 seats, a decrease, as mentioned, of two seats from the previous survey. Benny Gantz's State Camp party remains stable from the previous survey and will receive only 17 seats.

Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu party is down one seat from the previous poll, but still remains strong, receiving 13 seats. The Yesh Atid party, led by opposition leader Yair Lapid, is unable to rise and also wins 13 seats.

The Otzma Yehudit party of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is gaining seats, against the backdrop of the publicized confrontation with the Shin Bet - and wins 9 seats.

United Torah Judaism with 8 seats, Mansour Abbas's Ra'am party receives 6 seats. Religious Zionism, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, also receives only 6 seats. Hadash Ta'al with 4 seats.

Balad and the state right do not pass the threshold.

Division into blocks

The right-wing bloc is down one seat from the previous poll and receives 57 seats. The center-left bloc gains one seat from the previous poll and receives only 53 seats. The Arab parties together receive 10 seats.

Degree of suitability for the prime ministership

The survey asked respondents who was most suitable to serve as Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu or Benny Gantz. 43% of the respondents responded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was more suitable for the position, compared to 29% of the respondents who chose Benny Gantz as more suitable. 28% responded that neither of them was suitable.

On the question of the suitability for the prime ministership between Netanyahu and Lapid, the gap is larger. 45% claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu is more suitable for the position, compared to 30% who claimed that opposition leader Yair Lapid is more suitable. 25% of the respondents believe that neither of them is suitable.

The sample was conducted by Shlomo Filber and Zuriel Sharon through Direct Polls Ltd. for Now 14 on May 16, 2024, using a digital system combined with a panel, among 925 adult respondents (18+) who constitute a representative sample of the general population in Israel. The statistical sampling error is ±4.0% with a probability of 95%.
