A statement from the Police Investigations Department stated: "We would like to inform you that the Investigations Division of the Police Investigations Department earlier today questioned two Border Police officers who were observed acting violently toward civilians yesterday in Meron.

""The suspects were released under restrictive conditions of a number of days of removal from police facilities and not contacting other parties in the matter under investigation. The investigations are continuing.".

The investigation will deal with three main incidents, including the pushing of the elderly Haredi Rabbi Avraham Kreuzer, 80, onto the road, the beating and kicking of a woman with a stick, and the beating of worshippers and firing into the air.

Thousands of Haredim arrived yesterday at the Rashbi memorial on Mount Meron, in violation of the 'closed military area' order of the Northern Command's general on the mountain. Clashes broke out with the police there.

In the footage distributed on social media, the police are seen using severe and unusual violence against the worshippers.
