The Rishon LeZion, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, will raise the flame at the central lighting ceremony - which will open the series of lighting ceremonies in the "Court of Rejoicing" at the Tomb of Shimon the Righteous in Jerusalem, with the participation of tens of thousands of people.
The real reason: Why can't we go to Meron this year on Lag BaOmer?
The central ceremony, led by the Rishon LeZion, will begin on Saturday night at 11:00 PM, and will signal the opening of the Rashbi's celebration events in the 'Helula Courtyard' - where tens of thousands of people from the House of Israel will flock during Lag B'Omer to rejoice in the Rashbi's joy.
The lighting will be in a special area equipped by the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition for holding Lag BaOmer events. The event is taking place with police permission, and the celebrating public is called on to maintain order and listen to the stewards who will be stationed there.
Later in the day of Hilula, more lighting stands will be held by rebbes and rabbis from all denominations and circles, in the special complex of the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition - with, as stated, the main lighting will be at the Rishon LeZion stand of the Rabbi Yosef.
Inside the site itself, there will be ushers from the Ministry of Religious Services and the National Center for Holy Places, in order to maintain order and prevent incidents of crowding and dangerous overcrowding.
In the Jerusalem and Israel Tradition Ministry complexes, there will be special tents for holding the Halakah custom for the children of the Hamed, prayer areas, a dance tent, and a hospitality area with refreshments around the clock.
The legendary Zion Courtyard Orchestra will play throughout the day.
The Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition invites the public to come and participate in the Rashbi celebration that will take place this year in the Cave of Shimon the Righteous and in the 'Court of Rejoicing', to rejoice, pray and dance.
