The request of Avner Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's son, to delete the Wikipedia entry about him has been accepted.

The entry was deleted after a vote that lasted several days, at the end of which 75 Wikipedia writers decided to comply with Netanyahu's demand and reasoning that his entry "has no importance to the public.".

54 voters opposed the deletion. Now, anyone who enters Avner's entry is automatically redirected to the "Personal Life" category in the Prime Minister's entry.

The discussion surrounding the vote on the deletion request was open to everyone. "About five years ago, there was one vote missing to delete the entry, in a deletion vote. Now Avner Netanyahu has contacted us and asked to delete the entry about him due to its lack of importance," it was written at the beginning of the discussion.

To delete an entry, a qualified majority of 55% or more is required. In Netanyahu's case, more than 60% supported the deletion.

One of the supporters of the deletion explained his decision: "The content of the entry does not create meaning other than being the son of the Prime Minister, and therefore I agree with his request.".

Another wrote: "The mere fact that he is the son of a prime minister does not confer importance regardless of his request.".

This is a rare case in the history of the Wikipedia project, in which an object of value, considered a coveted status symbol, requests that the entry about it be completely deleted.

Netanyahu wrote: "I am the subject of the value (Avner Netanyahu) and I see no importance to the public in the existence of this value. The value is poor in any case." After it was not clear that it was really Netanyahu, Netanyahu contacted the Wikimedia Association and verified his identity.
