Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised the heads of the Haredi factions that he would present a conscription law acceptable to the legal advisor to the government within 30 days.
According to Michael Shemesh's report this evening (Monday) on 'Kan News', the Prime Minister then promised to approve the legislation at the beginning of the next Knesset session - even if Defense Minister Yoav Galant opposes it.
The coalition hopes that a majority will be achieved even without the need for MKs from the Arab parties, but this option will remain open until the last moment.
A source in the Arab parties said this week: "In principle, we are in favor of having as few fighters as possible in Gaza. We will consider our steps depending on the political situation.".
On the other hand, Ahmed Tibi tweeted today, in response to a report that Aryeh Deri will try to mobilize 4 Arab MKs to abstain from voting on a new conscription law: "This disastrous government must be overthrown. Period. It will not be saved from the crisis through our votes. If our votes tip the scales in the direction of its overthrow: then it will be overthrown.".
Earlier this evening, Education Minister Yoav Kish said in an interview with 'Kan News': "Urdu must be recruited unequivocally, they need to get under the stretcher and be part of the burden. The public will not accept anything else and neither will I." According to him, "At least 50% of them are not studying, let's start with them.".
