The Regional Environmental Quality Unit in Beit Shemesh participated, as every year, in the 'International Cleanup Day' events.
As part of the activity, on Cleanup Day, which took place today (Monday), thousands of students from 40 schools and 10 kindergartens in Beit Shemesh took part in a cleaning and trash collection activity in the city's open areas.
All this in collaboration with the KKL-JNF, which provides collection equipment, cloth gloves, and biodegradable ecological garbage bags.
In order to assist in the informational effort, Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Aboutbul and his deputy Meir Belaish, the municipality's environmental officer, went out into the field and set a personal example for the children: they took bags in their hands, put on hats - and began vigorous collection operations.
