The arrest was made after investigators at the Kfar Saba police station opened an investigation last night upon receiving a report of a racist statement against Jews being posted on social media.
The police located the suspect in the video, a resident of Rahat in his 20s, who worked as a contractor at the hospital, and detained him for questioning - at the conclusion of which the police will consider bringing him to a court hearing, requesting an extension of his detention.
Police Commissioner: "I welcome the rapid and determined action to close the loophole and arrest those involved. As I have made clear many times since the beginning of the fighting, the Israel Police will stand firm against any manifestation of sympathy or incitement. Zero tolerance for wild incitement to terrorism, zero tolerance for support for terrorism and Hamas and ISIS.".
Central District Commander, Chief Avi Biton: "For those who have forgotten, we are at war at home! Central District will deal decisively and quickly with any statement that raises suspicion of support and identification with terrorist organizations and incitement to violence. The district invests heavily in monitoring incendiary posts and we will reach out to anyone who challenges us!""
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir responded on Twitter, alongside a photo of the detainee against the backdrop of the anthem "Hatikva": "Kudos to our police officers who reached the terrorist and racist supporter within a few hours (the one who cursed Jews and works at Meir Hospital). Before he goes to work for a health insurance fund in Turkey or Ramallah, it's good that he is under investigation and I hope an indictment is filed.".
""This is our policy: zero tolerance for those who identify with the Nazis! Every instigator should know that the Israel Police will come to him and bring him to justice.".
The hospital said: "These are cleaning contractor workers who worked at the hospital for only two shifts. As soon as we received the video, their work was immediately stopped and the hospital filed a complaint with the police.".
