Yisrael Beiteinu Party Chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, today (Wednesday) attacked the compromise outline in legal reform.
"The Netanyahu-Deri and Goldknopf government must not be allowed to pass the evasion law, not on date A, not on date B, not on date C - it simply will not happen," Liberman tweeted.
""In recent days, we have witnessed another conspiracy hatched by Netanyahu and Deri, who are working for their personal interests. It is clear that this is not a compromise, but another fraudulent exercise and smokescreen in the eyes of the public.".
""The goal of Shas and United Torah Judaism activists is to squeeze out as many jobs and budgets as possible at the expense of the taxpayer, and to pass the tax evasion law that will completely exempt all yeshiva students from bearing the burden as early as next month when the Knesset returns.".
According to him, a move of this kind would dismantle the IDF and bring about the end of the entire Zionist enterprise. It is impossible to agree to a situation where, in the name of religion, the people are divided into two and structural inequality is created. We cannot allow them to pass the evasion law that distinguishes between blood and blood - the era of suckers is over. We will not give up on full equality of burden for everyone.".
Today, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Minister of Finance will convene to discuss the Military Service Prestige Law led by Gallant, according to which, in parallel with the exemption planned in the Conscription Law, the salaries of servicemen and fighters will increase significantly.
According to a report in Israel Hayom, the Haredi have been making it clear to the Prime Minister's Office in recent days that they do not intend to give up or postpone the passage of the conscription law again. A source in the Haredi parties said: "We don't care whether there will be a reform or not, we are not giving up on conscription. There is no third date.".
The draft law that these right-wing workers are working on will consist of a package of laws, including the Basic Law: Torah Study, the Draft Law, and the Service Dignity Law. The Basic Law: Torah Study will equalize the status of a young man with a soldier in order to provide an answer to the High Court of Justice on the issue of equality. The draft law will grant exemptions to Torah students, and the Service Dignity Law is intended to significantly increase the pay of serving soldiers.
The Minister of Defense and professional figures believe that raising soldiers' salaries will also cause ultra-Orthodox people who are "oscillating" between staying in yeshiva and going out to work to turn to the army. According to the Service Dignity Law, the salaries of combat soldiers will increase significantly, up to the minimum wage in the economy.
Tonight's discussion will include discussing the budget issue - Defense Minister Galant is demanding another 10 billion shekels to raise civil servants' salaries, but Finance Minister Smotrich is agreeing to much less. The amount discussed in the previous discussions was 6 billion shekels, but Smotrich will demand a reduction from that as well.
