The Ministry of National Security, headed by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, reached an agreement this evening (Tuesday) with the Ministry of Finance on a significant increase in the salaries of police officers and prison guards in the lower ranks, as part of a joint work plan for implementing salary increases between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Security.
According to the agreement in principle, all police officers and officers in the ranks of sergeant major, sergeant major, inspector and superintendent will receive a raise of about a thousand shekels in their July salary - which will be paid on the first of August.
This amounts to a total of about 11,000 police officers, which is about 40 percent of the permanent police officers of the Israel Police.
A similar significant increase was also agreed upon for approximately 3,200 Prison Service employees - all prison guards in the ranks of sergeant major, sergeant major, sergeant major, and sergeant major, a total of approximately one-third of all Prison Service employees.
It should be noted that this is the first of three beats that will take place in the next two years, with the next beat expected to be on January 24, and the third beat on January 25.
Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir: "This is great news, especially for police officers, prison guards, and all Israeli citizens. After years of neglect and disdain for the status of police officers and prison guards, we are returning the police officers who give their lives for us to their rightful status.".
""I am proud that we promised, fought, and kept it. I thank the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, for together with them we brought about this important achievement, and with God's help we will continue to do everything to strengthen the police. Add more police officers, bring back those who went home in recent years, and restore security to the citizens of Israel.".
