The release comes after great pressure exerted on Israel by Jordan and elements close to King Abdullah's office.

On Friday, the MP was visited by the Jordanian ambassador to Israel, who confirmed that his health is good.

As part of diplomatic agreements between the two countries, heavy pressure was exerted to release the detained member of parliament, with Israel insisting on its demand for a commitment that he serve a heavy sentence in Jordan for his actions - which constitute a security offense, and also for endangering relations between the countries.

The Shin Bet revealed additional details about the Jordanian member of parliament: Since February 2022, he has carried out 12 smuggling operations of various goods into the territory of the State of Israel, while using his diplomatic passport. Among other things, he smuggled animals - birds and pigeons, as well as electronic cigarettes and gold.

The investigation also revealed that since the beginning of 2023, he has smuggled weapons from Jordan into the territory of the State of Israel on several occasions.

In parallel with his interrogation in Israel, security forces in Jordan arrested several individuals who were connected to the smuggling he carried out, along with suspects who were arrested in Judea and Samaria.

The Shin Bet notes that he was transferred to the Jordanian authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

A senior political source addressed the issue of Al-Adwan's arrest, saying: "The issue is being handled by the security establishment in cooperation with the political echelon. There is ongoing dialogue with the Jordanian side.".

Adwan was arrested at the end of last month after arriving with three large bags – and immediately aroused the suspicion of customs inspectors at the crossing. Following the discovery of the weapons, he was arrested and transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning, with the aim of understanding who sent him, who handed him the numerous weapons – and what his final destination was.
