המשבר בין נתניהו ללפיד מגיע לשיא חדש: הערב (שני) פורסם לראשונה בחדשות10 כי ראש הממשלה החליט להקפיא את חוק מע"מ אפס, הנחשב ל'בייבי' של יש עתיד. מדובר בהחלטה משותפת לנתניהו וליו"ר הקואליציה, ח"כ יריב לוין.
ראש הממשלה החליט הלכה למעשה להקפיא את קידום החוק בכנסת, עד שתושג הסכמה ביתר נקודות המחלוקת שלו מול סיעתו של לפיד: בראש ובראשונה סביב תקציב המדינה.
Just today, the zero-tax VAT law passed a significant stage, when it passed the vote in the Finance Committee on all reservations. In the next stage, it is scheduled to reach a discussion in the Knesset committee - which is controlled by the Likud. Levin, who serves as the committee chairman, announced that in consultation with Netanyahu, he will not allow a discussion of the law within the committee until all disputes with Lapid are settled.
Levin explained that promoting the law actually stems from Likud's coalition commitment to Yesh Atid, but that at the moment it is unclear what the fate of the coalition will be, and therefore there is no intention to do so.
Sources at Yesh Atid initially reacted with panic: "This is blackmail, which on the face of it could be a pretext for an explosion.".
After that, sources in Yesh Atid intensified their tone and threatened to resign from the government: "VAT bill 0% has already passed the government and the prime minister voted in favor. If he indeed freezes the bill now, this will have coalition implications - including resigning from the government.".
אותם גורמים ביקשו להזכיר כי חוק מע"מ אפס מגובה בהחלטת ממשלה וכבר עבר הצבעה בקריאה ראשונה בכנסת. עוד ציינו כי ראש הממשלה העניק ללפיד הבטחה אישית לקדם את העניין.
התמרור שמציב נתניהו בפני לפיד צפוי להעמיק עוד יותר את המשבר בין שני השותפים הקואליציוניים. יחד עם זאת, לא מן הנמנע כי בהמשך אכן תושג פשרה בעניין התקציב.
אתמול הכריז יאיר לפיד כי החוק יעבור למרות כל הקשיים.
