The arrest and release on bail of the leader of the Shuvo Banim community, Rabbi Eliezer Berland, led to intense reporting in all Israeli media outlets.
But it seems that only one reporter managed to arouse the ire of some members of the community.
This morning, Yaki Adamkar, a reporter for the Walla website on ultra-Orthodox affairs, published that he is suffering from harassment and threats against him and his family members, following the reports.
And this is what he wrote on his Facebook page:
""Smelly adulterer," "nasty dog," "die slowly and painfully," "burn." These are just some of the curses I've been receiving since last night from people affiliated with Rabbi Berland's "Shuvo Banim" community.
""Add to this the incessant telephone harassment, the real threats to my life and family, and the pictures of the gun that are constantly sent. These are people whose honor is at the forefront of their minds. Honor. To the glory of "Shuvu Banim.".
Yaki, what happened?
""The truth? Nothing interesting. Routine reports about Rabbi Berland's arrest and release. About his travels around the world. Someone apparently decided to settle accounts and this is the way to go.".
""There were about 3-4 articles about him in the last week. One about his arrest, the second about his travels, the third about his release, and the fourth about a video of him.".
So what exactly upset them? After all, they all reported the same thing.
""I've heard claims that the headlines are exaggerated. Emphasis on the suspicions against him.".
Filing a police complaint?
""Yes. For harassment and threats. At the Shafat Zion station in Jerusalem.".
