Medical document warns: Only from this age can children be allowed to watch screens

The Medical Association has published a first-of-its-kind document containing guidelines for doctors and parents, according to which children's use of screens should be limited up to the age of one and a half and children up to the age of 11 should be prohibited from using the TikTok app.

According to the document - revealed on 'Kan News' this evening (Wednesday), widespread and increased use of screens causes a number of problems, including sleep problems, anxiety and depression disorders, obesity, eye damage, cognitive damage, language and math problems, poor social development, and attention and concentration problems.

Doctors' recommendations: Agree for children – only from the age of one and a half.

From 18 months to 2 years of age, screen viewing should be limited to one hour a day; from 2 to 5 years of age - up to one hour a day and up to 3 hours on the weekend; from 6 to 17 years of age: up to two hours a day, and for those 18 and older, including adults, the recommendation is to watch screens for two to 4 hours a day.

The document is responsible for the Institute for Quality in Medicine of the Medical Association, and it includes several physician organizations: the Pediatricians' Association, the Child Psychiatry Association, neurologists, ophthalmologists, nutritionists, and also representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Teachers' Association.
