The heads of the coalition parties signed a special letter to the Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister, Gali Mwana Mair, this evening (Monday), against the discussion she is holding on the issue of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's incapacity.

The letter, signed by Yariv Levin, Aryeh Deri, Bezalel Smotrich, Yitzhak Goldknopf, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Moshe Gafni and Avi Maoz, comes after the publication of discussions at the Justice Ministry about examining the possibility of declaring Netanyahu ineligible to serve as prime minister - given his preoccupation with legal issues, despite the conflict of interest.

In response to the harsh letter, tonight in Harav-Miara, she issued a denial: "I would like to clarify that, contrary to what is claimed in the media, I did not hold discussions regarding the Prime Minister's impeachment.".

The letter from the coalition leaders states: "Recently, several reports have been published in the media stating that you are holding discussions regarding the possibility of 'removing' the Prime Minister of Israel to 'retirement.' To our astonishment, you have not denied the reports until this moment.".

""An attempt to declare or declare the incapacity of a sitting leader constitutes a clearly illegal attempt to depose him and overthrow a legally elected government, without a shred of legal authorization," state the party leaders.

They added: "No legal illusion will stand in the face of the obvious in all constitutional states - a prime minister is elected by the majority of the people and their representatives. The majority of Israeli citizens elected the coalition parties and the prime minister just a few months ago. The Knesset, as the representative of the sovereign, gives confidence in the government and the prime minister. Therefore, no entity has the authority to dismiss the prime minister and overthrow the legal government, except for the people and their representatives and according to an express law.".

""Any other determination is clearly illegal and a black flag flies over it.".

The party leaders clarify: "We therefore see such discussions, to the extent that they take place, as an attempt at a legal coup that lacks authority and is clearly illegal, whether it is aimed at the future or at the present time. It is no different from an attempted coup by a rebellious military man.".

""The people, their elected officials, and the government of Israel will never make a decision without authority, which means canceling the elections at the ballot boxes, canceling the democratic regime, and illegally overcoming the sovereignty of the people and their representatives. The paper on which such a decision is written will be worthless. It will never overcome the power of the millions of paper ballots with which the people voted.".
