Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, with the consent of the Minister of Justice and on the recommendation of the Security Service, revoked the residency of terrorist Salah Hamouri - and ordered his deportation to France. Hamouri is a Popular Front terrorist, a French citizen, who is currently being held in administrative detention. He is scheduled to be released tomorrow. Upon the end of his detention, he will be deported to France as soon as possible. From a young age, Hamouri has been promoting terrorist acts and has taken advantage of his status as an Israeli resident for these acts. He has been detained and imprisoned several times for security activities. He also worked to finance additional activities and recruitment, and even conspired to carry out the murder of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l. Following these actions, he was sentenced to seven years in prison. Later, he was released from prison as part of the Shalit deal, and was subject to restrictions by Israel. Among other things, he was prevented from entering Judea and Samaria and was separated from his wife and children. Even after his release from prison, he continued his hostile, serious, and significant activity against the State of Israel. Security officials warned that the deportation process must be urgently advanced, in light of Hamouri's activities. Minister Shaked signed the cancellation of Hamouri's residency in October 2021, but following the ruling issued in July 2022 by the Supreme Court, a process of revoking the status was required again and another decision was made, in light of the court's determinations regarding the aspects of the declaratory purpose. Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked: "We must fight terrorism with all the tools at our disposal. "It is impossible for terrorists like Hamuri to be granted status in Israel. I welcome the conclusion of the process, the cancellation of his status and his expulsion from the country.".
