Tamir Avichai, 50, from Kiryat Netafim, a father of six children, is one of the three murdered in the stabbing and ramming attack that occurred this morning (Tuesday) in the Ariel industrial zone in Samaria.
His funeral will be held at 8:00 PM. He will be buried in the cemetery in Barkan.
Kiryat Netafim Chairman Avi Baruch: "Tamir was an inseparable part of the Kiryat Netafim community and the entire community is mourning and in pain. We embrace the entire family at this difficult time and stand by them in whatever is necessary.".
The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, who knew Tamir, mourned his death: "This is a difficult moment for all of us. Three murdered and 3 injured. We embrace the family and the community of Kiryat Netafim at this difficult moment.".
'"Tamir was a bright man, full of goodness and a desire to help other people, a man of kindness, a Zionist in every aspect of his being. Whenever I met him, he would greet me with his broad smile. All who knew him loved him. The bright and happy flower was plucked by the malicious hand of barbarians.".
Dagan also said: "This attack is a clear result of the loss of governance and the loss of deterrence by the outgoing government. The incoming government must conduct itself as a national government and must reverse the equation. The one who stands behind this wave of terror and finances it is the terrorist in the guise of Abu Mazen. The Israeli government must make him a security target. The one who stands behind this wave of terror is the Palestinian Authority, not all sorts of local rascals. And until the Israeli government changes the equation, the attacks will not stop.".
Two additional people, whose names have not yet been released, were murdered in the attack.
Dr. Dan Gurfil, director of intensive care for cardiothoracic surgeries at Beilinson Hospital, said that 3 injured people are hospitalized - two in serious but stable condition, were admitted to the operating room. Another injured person in moderate to serious condition is under observation.
The terrorist, Muhammad Murad Souf, 18, a resident of the village of Hars, worked in the Barkan industrial zone with a work permit. The terrorist arrived at the work zone as he did every morning, got out of his vehicle, and walked toward the entrance gate of the workplace.
At the entrance gate, he stabbed one of the civilian security guards. The security guard who was stabbed was outside the shop. The other security guard came out and in response fired only into the air.
The terrorist then ran towards a gas station 60 meters away from the shop. With the same knife, he continued his killing spree: stabbing to death two civilians who were in the middle of refueling and filling up with air.
He then continued to the owner of a Berlingo and injured him, stole the vehicle, and went onto Route 5, where he crashed into a vehicle parked on the side of the road and murdered the third Jew.
His vehicle was disabled due to the accident. When the driver of a BMW went to help the injured driver, the terrorist got into his vehicle and continued towards the Crossing of Samaria checkpoint on Route 5. When he reached the checkpoint, he made a U-turn and drove against the direction of traffic, back to the previous scene, where he crashed into the vehicles again.
At this point he got out of the vehicle and started to run. A soldier on leave and a fighter shot and killed him.
