Before the holiday, the Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment with the Beer Sheva District Court against a 31-year-old foreign national from Moldova, who entered the home of Sylvia Haddad, an 82-year-old resident of Kiryat Gat, and brutally attacked her with a knife.

The indictment accuses the defendant of committing the offenses of aggravated assault, assaulting an elderly man that caused actual injury, possession of a knife, and more.

According to the indictment, the defendant, Viktor Yelizarov, entered the elderly woman's home about two weeks ago, for no reason, with a kitchen knife with a blade about 9 cm long, grabbed her tightly and brutally attacked her, knocking her to the ground, and then tried to stab her repeatedly all over her body with the knife.

The elderly woman defended herself and struggled with the defendant, and managed to push away his hand holding the knife, but the defendant managed to stab her with the palm of her hand. While she was on the floor, the defendant continued to attack her, dragging and pulling her hair, and tried to stab her once more, but the elderly woman struggled with the defendant and defended herself against him, and managed to prevent further harm to her.

The elderly woman screamed for help, told the defendant that she could be his mother, and tried to defend herself, but the defendant threw her to the floor again and tried to stab her with the knife.

The elderly woman's son, who heard her screams, called the police, then took a broomstick and pushed the defendant away with the stick.

The defendant approached him with the knife, tried to stab him in the neck, and the knife slightly injured him. The son tried to help his mother and protect her, and hit the defendant with the stick in order to make him stop his actions and throw the knife.

Even when the police officer arrived following the son's phone call to the police, the defendant continued to drag the elderly woman who was lying on the floor, tried to stab her again, and swung the knife in the direction of the police officer.

Only when the policeman cocked his weapon and pointed it at the defendant, ordering him to move back and throw the knife in his hand, did the defendant raise his hands and throw the knife.

As a result of the defendant's actions, the elderly woman required medical treatment.

The prosecution is asking the court to order the defendant's continued detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
