A homeless man was found dead on Friday afternoon, sitting on a bench in the funeral hall at the Be'er Sheva cemetery - many hours after he died.
Around 2:00 PM, a report was received at the ZAKA hotline about a person found dead in the funeral home hall. ZAKA volunteers from the Beer Sheva branch arrived to honor the deceased.
Shimon Zaguri, ZAKA volunteer: "This is a well-known homeless man in the city of Beersheba, who was found lifeless many hours after he died, sitting on a bench in the obituary hall.
""Heartbreaking. Several funerals were held at the funeral hall this morning, attended by dozens of people. When the funerals were over, when everyone had left for their homes, one of the workers went over to check on the man and discovered, to his dismay, that he was dead.
""Apparently he arrived at the funeral hall yesterday, suffered a medical incident and died while sitting there alone. An MDA paramedic confirmed his death at the scene. ZAKA Negev volunteers and the Beer Sheva team are treating the deceased with dignity at the scene.".
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police.
