Yuval Dayan did not shake Joe Biden's hand at the end of a performance, for religious reasons, and the headlines are many.

Here is something I wrote to her:

""Wow, you're the hero of the day. Sorting out my thoughts a bit:

Then most will applaud and cheer and compliment you on the 'crazy Kiddush Hashem' you did. And some will say you're a hypocrite because a moment ago you sang in front of him with a singer, and what with the earthy way and the whitewash. And most of all - they will be full of witty jokes about you (I've already seen a few).

So first of all, I'll remind you that every day there's a different 'network storm', tomorrow it'll be gone. If you're suffering - it'll be over in a moment. And even if you're having fun - even then, remember that it's over in a moment. Tomorrow they'll find something else cool to do.

But beyond the fleeting, temporary virality, you were privileged to convey an eternal message here. There is such a term in Hasidic teachings, 'reshimo.' Actions leave an impression in the world, and leaving an impression of loyalty.

The nicest thing is to be nice. To donate the proceeds of a performance and get a million likes. Or even to light Shabbat candles and tell how fun it is to 'go a day without a cell phone.' It's all true, and I know you, you who prefer to be okay with everyone.

But you can't just act on what you like all your life. It's a person's right and duty to protect and be careful about what's important and dear to them. You proved yesterday that even when it goes against the jubilee-dayan sweetness - you have principles that even the President of the United States won't change. Well done, heads of government sometimes can't stand the pressure of the President of the United States...

Oh, and finally, there is no 'incident' here. You even asked to inform the Americans about it in advance, with the utmost politeness. But now all the commenters - including me! - who are rushing to write their agenda and are offended in the name of 'hurting Biden' don't notice that there was just a small, graceful and human moment here, from which all the participants emerged with a smile. Until the networks started acting...

"Shaking your hand from afar. And a hug. Shabbat Shalom.".
