After the ceremony of presenting the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Yitzhak Herzog to US President Joe Biden, singers Ran Danker and Yuval Dayan took the stage to sing a special arrangement of the song "Let It Be.".

Biden was moved by the performance and asked to thank the singing duo, and stood up to shake the singer's hand.

But then the singer, who is approaching Judaism, avoided shaking his hand, leaving her hands on the microphone - and explained that she was "keeping in touch.".

President Herzog was quick to explain to Biden the meaning of the refusal, saying that it was a mitzvah that Dayan was fulfilling in light of her growing closer to religion.

Dayan herself posted a response: "I am so excited about the status and the privilege that has been given to me. Over the past week, during preparations for the ceremony, I made sure to inform everyone I could on behalf of the President's Office several times that I was staying in touch.

""I had no intention, God forbid, of harming anyone, but only of representing our country with honor and remaining true to my values as a religious girl. Thank you for all the moving responses, and lots of love.".
