"Israel Hayom" journalist Ariel Kahane said yesterday in an interview with "Gale Israel" that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is, as he put it, a crook. This morning (Wednesday), he issued a clarification.
During the interview, Kahane said: "We are old enough people to have known, unfortunately, for a long time that whether a person has or does not have a kippah on their head does not indicate anything about their behavior. But you ask me, do I, as a religious person, have expectations from religious people that they will behave better than others? The answer is certainly yes.".
""But here you see that you have Amichai Shikli, who walks around without a kippa and you see an honest man, an honest and ethical politician and an educator and one of the people I would send my child to study with tomorrow," he noted. "In contrast, unfortunately, our prime minister is being revealed to be, I hate to say it, a crook. I hate to say that.".
This morning, as mentioned, he published a clarification: "Yesterday, in the heat of a certain interview, I used a word that should not have been said towards Prime Minister Bennett, even though it was quoted in a number of media outlets. I retract this word, simply because that is not how it is spoken, and I ask everyone who quoted my words to publish the clarification. Thank you.".
