Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the Knesset building this morning (Wednesday) to participate in the special recess debate, accompanied by his wife Sara - against the backdrop of the crisis in the coalition due to the resignation of MK Idit Silman. Are you over the age of 60? This is the teaching for you from Rabbi Kanievsky, zt”l Upon his arrival, Netanyahu addressed in a short sentence the resignation of MK Idit Silman from the coalition, saying: "This is the dawn of a new day." The special meeting was convened at the request of 25 opposition MKs, to discuss the state's response to the wave of terrorism. It will be held exceptionally in the Knesset auditorium and not in the plenary hall, due to renovations underway there. The Knesset plenary opened at 11:00 AM and Netanyahu was the first speaker. He addressed the political drama and said in his speech: "On Passover, we celebrate Israel's exodus from Egypt to the Land of Israel, the Promised Land. Today we rejoice for a similar reason, and congratulate MK Idit Silman for making the right decision. We all welcome her with a warm embrace and open arms. Idit has returned home - to the true right, to the national camp. Today, there is a weak and frail government in Israel. Its days are numbered." He added: "I call from here to the members and other members of the coalition whose hearts are in the right place: We are waiting for you. We will receive you with respect and appreciation. You can buy your world with one decision that will save the State of Israel from a government of weakness. Make this right decision today. "Join Idit, join us - come home and together we will establish a strong national government that will take care of all citizens of Israel - Jews and Arabs, religious and secular, ultra-Orthodox and traditional - all without exception." Netanyahu promised: "We will establish a government that will defeat terrorism, stop the Iranian nuclear program, reduce the taxes that this government has raised, fight crime and violence in Arab communities, and ensure that all citizens of Israel are included in the Israeli success story." Earlier this morning, Netanyahu said that he was very moved to hear Silman's statement and said that he congratulated her "on behalf of the masses of the people of Israel who have longed for this moment." Netanyahu added: "Idit, you have proven that what guides you is concern To the Jewish identity of the State of Israel, the concern for the Land of Israel, and I welcome you back home to the national camp. You have proven that true public representatives act according to the dictates of their conscience and there is no greater right than that. "I call on everyone who was elected by the votes of the national camp to join the Yiddish and return to our home, you will be received with all due respect and with open arms.".
