He took office to improve US-Israeli relations, which had stagnated under his predecessor, President Barack Obama.

Combining the insights he gained from his many years as a negotiator in the American private sector, Friedman and a small team with no prior experience refined American diplomacy to project "peace through strength.".

After meticulous work behind the scenes, the 'Abraham Accords' were signed: a historic series of peace deals between Israel and five Islamic countries.

In his new book, Friedman tells how his candidacy became a sensational event: left-wing organizations came out against him with all their might, and on the other hand, the support he received from right-wing groups and Orthodox Judaism.

Friedman writes in his book: "During this challenging time, I drew immense comfort from my rabbi, Chabad emissary Rabbi Zalman Volovik, and the Chabad movement, the most dynamic and influential Jewish leading force in modern times. I was privileged to honor Rabbi Volovik at the inauguration of our new embassy in Jerusalem, some seventeen months later.".

Rabbi Volovik, together with his wife Chani Volovik, runs the Chabad House in Five Towns, Lund Island, where Friedman lives.

This coming week, Friedman and his wife Tami will be honored as 'Ambassadors of Light' at Chabad's 27th annual gala dinner in the city.

Another Chabad figure mentioned in the book is the emissary Rabbi Shlomi Peles, a resident of Kfar Chabad, who is known for his assistance to Chabad houses and foundations in the countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as in other countries.

In the book, Friedman also recalls how, after Trump recognized Israel's right to the Golan Heights, he rushed to the airport to catch a flight to attend the official announcement at the White House.

""That night was Purim, and before the meal was over I had to rush to catch a flight back to New York," Friedman shares. "I had the help of my friend Rabbi Shlomi Peles of Chabad, who read the Megillah to me while the plane was already on the runway. My team managed to delay the flight a bit and I was able to board just before takeoff.".
