Spanish fashion chain Zara has introduced a new children's shirt that has caused a stir online. The shirt is printed with black and white stripes and a patchwork Yellow that recalls the uniforms that Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust.

The star does have the word "Sheriff" written on it, and it is meant to represent the sheriffs' badges from the Wild West, but its combination on a black-and-white striped shirt and the fact that the writing is almost invisible evoke a chilling imagination.

Zara responded: "The item in question from the 'Cowboy Collection' for babies was designed inspired by the sheriff character from Wild West movies. In this item, you can see that the word 'sheriff' is written on the star. However, we can understand the sensitivity, context and connotation that was created. The item does not exist in Israel, and as soon as the matter became clear, it was decided to remove it from sales shelves worldwide and destroy it. We express our sincere apologies if as a result we hurt the feelings of our customers.".
