Singer Mordechai Ben-David Verdiger was revealed to be a coronavirus denier: Last night (Saturday night), Menachem Toker's program on Kol Hai Radio aired an interview with the singer, where at the beginning of the interview he spoke out strongly against the coronavirus, calling it "a plague of lies.".
The scandalous statements were shelved and not broadcast.
According to a report by Chaman Greenwood in Israel Hayom, Verdiger said at the beginning of the interview, which lasted about two hours after the editing: "May God help everyone to get out of this madness called Corona, and with all the lies they are trying to impose on us and all the restrictions and nonsense. May God save us from all the restrictions. This is a pandemic of pressures, this is not a real pandemic. It's like the flu. They are panicking. In my opinion, it's just money. Pfizer's money grinder and all these people are throwing at everyone. That's why there are all kinds of rumors, it means yes, it means no, but the media is trying to put a terrible fear on us, and because of the fear that everyone will get vaccinated. They also want children, may God have mercy.".
Werdiger, who was one of the first to contract the coronavirus after being infected in March 2020, said that in the US there is great opposition to vaccinations among the Haredi rabbis. "In the city of Lakewood, all the major rabbis have issued a ban on vaccinating children. They say there is evidence that it kills people. Anyone whose rabbi tells them to get vaccinated should get vaccinated, anyone who doesn't - don't.".
In a conversation with Israel Hayom, Menachem Toker explained why he censored the parts of the denial of the pandemic and vaccines. According to him, he wanted to focus the interview on the singer's musical career: "I interviewed Mordechai Ben David for three hours, a recorded musical interview. When he said what he said, I immediately realized that it would cause damage if I published it, so I preferred to focus on the king's musical career and leave the topic of vaccines off the air.
""I emphasize that he said that everyone should do what their rabbis told them. It is worth knowing that in the US, many ultra-Orthodox people do not get vaccinated, and the issue is indeed controversial.".
Tucker was criticized for not putting the singer in his place.
