Lod Mayor Yair Revivo sent a letter to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett today (Tuesday), warning: "The city of Lod is on the verge of explosion!"" The vaccine for children aged 5-11 is recommended by doctors: a special response for parents Revivo requested that additional police forces be urgently transferred to the city. Revivo's appeal comes in the wake of the security escalation in the city. "About an hour ago, we were informed of another assassination attempt in Lod, when two residents of the city were shot in their vehicle in broad daylight, in the city center, apparently on a criminal basis as part of blood feuds and settling scores in Arab society. "This is an extremely serious incident, taking place in the Dan bloc, 15 minutes from Tel Aviv. Therefore, we call on you, Mr. Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Security, to prevent the next incident now by sending police forces to the city, today." The mayor details the plight of his city's residents: "The residents of Lod experience difficult events every day, which cause serious harm to personal security. Every day here in Lod, the sounds of gunfire are heard with great intensity and for long minutes, both single shots and bursts, which cause severe fear and panic among the residents." Revivo emphasizes that crime in the Arab sector is spreading and affecting all residents: "The source of the shooting, as stated, is in the Arab sector in Lod! However, if in the past the shooting phenomena were characterized by Arab neighborhoods or happy events in the Arab sector, in recent months there have been bursts of gunfire in Lod every evening, not just in Arab neighborhoods." The mayor of Lod expresses concern that the crime families will step up and, with the help of the many weapons at their disposal, threaten the planes taking off from Ben Gurion Airport: "Recently, the crime families have begun using automatic weapons, machine guns, and they may soon also arm themselves with shoulder-fired missiles. The fear of hitting one of the hundreds of planes that take off and land in Lod is tangible, and we must not let such a national disaster come to pass." The mayor expresses outrage at the lenient treatment that judges give to firearm users who endanger the lives of civilians: "After a successful police operation to apprehend the shooters, they are released after only hours or days and immediately return to shooting without hindrance. Unfortunately, there is concern among judges. I ask you to immediately bring in the Illegal Shooting Law, which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison, and which will not be less than 5 years minimum." Revivo adds and asks that they act quickly to eradicate crime and violence, because citizens can no longer bear the current situation.
